LG 3D TVs

LG Logo

LG is launching two different types of 3D TV in May 2010; both a passive and an active 3D television.

The LG LD950 is a 47" LCD TV with passive 3D technology which is the same technology used in cinemas and pubs around the country. The benefit of passive systems is that the 3D glasses are very cheap and so it is expected that LG will bundle four pairs with the TV however you will not get a full 1080p HD image in 3D.

If on the other hand you want the best quality image using Blu-ray or Sky HD then the LG LX 3D TVs use active 3D technology. LG has two LX models, the edgelit LX6900 (42") and the backlit LX9900 (47" or 55"); both use active 3D glasses to produce stunning 3D HD images in full 1080p, albeit at a cost of around £100 per pair of glasses.
